The company has been producing luxury items since its founding in 1872 when photographer to Napoleon III and an innovator with a keen eye for beauty, 25 year old Simon Tissot Dupont had a vision of creating exceptional personalized travel trunks for Parisian high society. Among their customers were Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie, Maharajah of Patiala, Humphrey Bogart, Pablo Picasso, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and many, many more. S.T. Dupont were commissioned to produce a personalized travel case for the wedding of Princess Elizabeth, later Queen Elizabeth II. It is particularly famous among cigar aficionados for the artistic approach to designing the best luxury lighters.
